7249 - Senior QA Automation Programmer/Developer (Candidate MUST CURRENTLY Resided in St Paul)
We are seeking an experienced Senior QA Automation Programmer/Developer for a full-time, onsite consulting engagement. This role will provide senior-level technical leadership for enterprise QA automation efforts, including automation architecture, framework design and modernization, automated test development, and integration with CI/CD processes.
The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience developing scalable automation frameworks using Java and Selenium or comparable technologies and will be comfortable serving as a technical lead within an Agile/DevOps environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and modernize enterprise automation frameworks with a focus on maintainability, scalability, sustainability, and reuse.
- Provide technical leadership for automation architecture, framework design, coding standards, and QA automation best practices.
- Evaluate existing automation frameworks and implement improvements to increase reliability, maintainability, scalability, and execution efficiency.
- Design, develop, execute, and maintain functional, system integration, API, and regression automation test suites.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, DevOps engineers, QA professionals, and other technical team members to develop automation strategies and reusable test assets.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and support automated test execution throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Mentor automation engineers through code reviews, technical coaching, framework guidance, and knowledge transfer.
- Develop SQL queries and perform database validation in support of automated testing and troubleshooting.
- Participate in Agile activities including sprint planning, backlog refinement, defect triage, and technical design discussions.
- Research and evaluate new automation tools, technologies, and framework enhancements to improve software quality and long-term maintainability.
- Document automation processes, procedures, standards, and framework components to support ongoing maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must have:
- 7+ years of experience designing, developing, and executing automated test solutions for large-scale enterprise applications.
- 5+ years of experience developing automation frameworks using Java and Selenium or comparable automation technologies.
- 5+ years of experience designing, developing, or significantly enhancing automation frameworks using object-oriented design principles and reusable framework architecture.
- 3+ years of experience integrating automated testing into Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using tools such as Jenkins.
- 5+ years of experience writing SQL queries and performing database validation in support of automated testing.
Desired Qualifications
Strong candidates will also have experience with:
- Serving as an Automation Architect, Principal QA Automation Engineer, Automation Framework Lead, Senior Automation Consultant, or similar senior technical role.
- Providing technical leadership, mentoring automation engineers, and conducting automation code reviews.
- Modernizing mature or legacy automation frameworks to improve maintainability, scalability, sustainability, and long-term supportability.
- Designing automation frameworks from the ground up, including reusable components, reporting, coding standards, scalability, maintainability, and extensibility.
- Supporting large, complex, mission-critical enterprise applications.
- Automating web applications, REST APIs, and database validation.
- IBM Engineering Test Management (ETM), IBM Quality Manager (QM), IBM Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM), or comparable enterprise test management tools.
- Performance testing tools or supporting performance testing initiatives.
- Agile/Scrum and DevOps environments.
- Healthcare, human services, government, or other highly regulated enterprise environments.
- Working effectively with developers, solution architects, DevOps engineers, business analysts, and QA teams.
Additional Skills
- Strong understanding of QA automation architecture and software development best practices.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to provide hands-on technical leadership while contributing directly to automation development.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong documentation and knowledge-transfer skills.
