Job description

Project Overview

The platform supports energy market analysis, forecasting, optimization, scenario evaluation, and operational decision-making. The initiative focuses on building a scalable, secure, automated, and supportable AWS cloud foundation to support platform growth and expansion into additional markets.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud, IAM, CDK & DevOps Engineer to design, implement, automate, and support enterprise AWS infrastructure across development, test, and production environments. The engineer will be responsible for AWS cloud infrastructure, identity and access management, reusable infrastructure-as-code components, CI/CD pipelines, security controls, observability, operational resilience, and production readiness. The ideal candidate will combine strong hands-on AWS engineering skills with automation expertise and experience supporting production cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

AWS Cloud Infrastructure & Architecture

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure AWS infrastructure across development, test, and production environments.
  • Implement cloud networking, secrets management, encryption, logging, monitoring, alerting, backup, recovery, and resilience controls.
  • Support enterprise AWS environments and production operations.
  • Develop cloud architecture diagrams, implementation plans, technical standards, test evidence, and production-readiness documentation.

Identity & Access Management (IAM)

  • Design and manage IAM roles, policies, service identities, identity federation, permission boundaries, and least-privilege access controls.
  • Implement and support Amazon Cognito authentication and application integration patterns where required.
  • Establish IAM, authentication, authorization, and access-control standards.
  • Review access permissions and help ensure secure identity management across cloud environments.

Infrastructure as Code (AWS CDK)

  • Develop, maintain, and deploy reusable AWS CDK constructs, stacks, and infrastructure templates.
  • Establish reusable infrastructure patterns, deployment standards, AWS account structures, and environment guardrails.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, validation, environment promotion, rollback, and release processes.
  • Maintain consistent and repeatable infrastructure deployments across environments.

DevOps & CI/CD Automation

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments using Git-based workflows and approved DevOps tools.
  • Automate infrastructure deployment, configuration, testing, and release processes.
  • Support GitHub workflows and associated DevOps tooling.
  • Improve deployment reliability, consistency, traceability, and operational efficiency.

Operations, Security & Reliability

  • Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, alerting, backup, recovery, and resilience procedures.
  • Support containerized and serverless AWS workloads and automated operational monitoring.
  • Troubleshoot cloud infrastructure, identity, integration, deployment, and performance issues.
  • Collaborate with developers, architects, security teams, and vendors to resolve technical issues.
  • Develop operating procedures, support runbooks, and technical documentation.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and post-deployment stabilization support.
  • Ensure security, operational readiness, and production deployment requirements are met.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on AWS cloud engineering or DevOps experience.
  • Strong expertise in AWS IAM, authentication, authorization, identity federation, and least-privilege access design.
  • Hands-on experience developing and deploying infrastructure using AWS CDK.
  • Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines and Git-based deployment workflows.
  • Experience supporting enterprise AWS environments and production operations.
  • Knowledge of AWS networking, secrets management, encryption, monitoring, logging, backup, recovery, and resilience.
  • Scripting and automation experience using Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, Bash, or comparable technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with GitHub, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, AWS CodeBuild, or similar DevOps tools.
  • Experience building reusable CDK constructs, deployment standards, account structures, and environment guardrails.
  • Experience supporting containerized or serverless AWS workloads and automated monitoring.
  • Background in energy trading, power market analytics, utility operations, renewable energy, or forecasting platforms.
  • Familiarity with North American ISO/RTO markets, including ERCOT, PJM, MISO, SPP, CAISO, NYISO, or ISO-NE.
  • Experience in regulated, cybersecurity-sensitive, or compliance-driven environments.
  • Relevant AWS certifications are a plus.

Expected Deliverables

  • Documented AWS cloud, identity, infrastructure-as-code, and DevOps architecture.
  • Configured development, test, and production AWS environments.
  • Reusable AWS CDK constructs, stacks, and deployment templates.
  • IAM, authentication, authorization, and access-control standards.
  • CI/CD pipelines and automated infrastructure deployment workflows.
  • Monitoring, logging, alerting, backup, recovery, and resilience procedures.
  • Security, operational readiness, and deployment validation evidence.
  • Technical documentation, knowledge-transfer materials, and operational support runbooks.

Key Role Focus

AWS cloud engineering, IAM governance, AWS CDK infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipeline development, DevOps operations, cloud security, operational resilience, and production readiness.
