AECOM is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Civil/Environmental Engineer to join our growing Water, Wastewater, and Conveyance team in Columbus, Ohio. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early career engineer to begin building a rewarding career while supporting the planning, design, and delivery of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will work alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary project teams while developing technical skills in engineering design, hydraulic analysis, utility infrastructure, and project delivery. This position provides excellent opportunities for mentorship, professional development, and career growth within one of the world's leading infrastructure consulting firms.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the planning and design of municipal water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, force mains, gravity sewers, pump stations, and conveyance infrastructure.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction documents under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Develop engineering drawings utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D and other engineering software.
  • Assist with hydraulic calculations and system evaluations for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Support the preparation of technical memorandums, feasibility studies, cost estimates, and engineering reports.
  • Participate in field investigations, site visits, construction observations, and condition assessments as required.
  • Assist with project documentation, data collection, and engineering analyses.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, geotechnical, and environmental engineers.
  • Support permitting activities and ensure engineering work complies with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Learn and apply AECOM engineering standards, quality procedures, and safety practices while contributing to successful project delivery.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline
  • Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain shortly after hire.
  • Internship, co-op, undergraduate research, or related engineering experience.
  • Coursework or project experience involving water resources, hydraulics, environmental engineering, or municipal infrastructure.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D through coursework, internships, or academic projects.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
  • Exposure to GIS, hydraulic modeling software (WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, InfoWater Pro, InfoWorks ICM, Bentley OpenFlows), or similar engineering software through coursework or internships is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong desire to develop professionally while working toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
