Job Summary
If you have a strong background in building fabric maintenance and general building repairs, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. Our client is looking to recruit an experienced Fabric Engineer to join their engineering team in Basildon, Essex.
You'll play a key role in maintaining the fabric of a large commercial site, carrying out both planned preventative and reactive maintenance to ensure the building remains safe, compliant, and presented to a high standard.
Working within a fast-paced maintenance environment, you'll be responsible for a wide variety of building fabric repairs, supporting the smooth operation of the site while delivering high-quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive building fabric repairs
Complete general carpentry, painting and decorating, patch plastering, and minor brickwork repairs
Repair doors, locks, hinges, door closers, ceilings, partitions, flooring, and windows
Carry out minor plumbing repairs, including replacing taps, toilets, pipework, and sanitary fittings
Perform basic mechanical maintenance and assist engineering teams where required
Complete minor installation and refurbishment works across the site
Diagnose defects and carry out repairs to internal and external building fabric
Maintain accurate maintenance records using the site's maintenance management system (CMMS)
Liaise with contractors and colleagues to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently
Ensure all work complies with health & safety procedures and company policies
Requirements
Previous experience as a Fabric Engineer, Building Maintenance Engineer, Handyperson, or Multi-Skilled Engineer
Experience carrying out carpentry, painting, decorating, plumbing, and general building fabric maintenance
Good understanding of commercial building maintenance and facilities management
Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload
Full right to work in the UK
