Location: Washington, DC – Remote
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $135,000 – $145,000
Citizenship Requirement: U.S. Citizen
Clearance Requirement: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance
Work Schedule: 100% Remote; occasional on-site attendance may be required at the customer's request

The Opportunity

RCG is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer – PKI to support a federal customer. This role is responsible for the operation, maintenance, security, and administration of enterprise Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) systems supporting secure authentication, encryption, and communications across the organization.

The ideal candidate will bring strong systems engineering experience with enterprise PKI environments, digital certificate lifecycle management, authentication technologies, and security practices.

What You’ll Do

PKI Administration & Operations

  • Operate, manage, and maintain enterprise PKI systems supporting users, systems, and devices.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of digital certificates and keys, including issuance, renewal, revocation, and expiration.
  • Monitor PKI services and troubleshoot authentication, encryption, certificate, and secure communication issues.
  • Maintain the availability, reliability, and security of PKI services in accordance with organizational and federal requirements.
  • Identify and remediate certificate- and PKI-related vulnerabilities.
  • Ensure PKI services meet established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Systems Integration & Security

  • Integrate PKI services with enterprise Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions, applications, systems, devices, and security tools.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity and infrastructure teams to support certificate-based authentication and encryption.
  • Troubleshoot complex PKI and authentication issues and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
  • Ensure PKI configurations and operations comply with applicable security policies and federal standards.

Documentation & Technical Support

  • Develop and maintain PKI procedures, technical configurations, and system documentation.
  • Document system changes, troubleshooting activities, and technical resolutions.
  • Provide technical guidance on certificates, authentication, encryption, and PKI services to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 6+ years of experience in systems engineering, authentication technologies, PKI administration, or related enterprise systems management.
  • Hands-on experience operating and maintaining enterprise PKI systems.
  • Strong understanding of digital certificates, certificate lifecycle management, authentication, encryption, and secure communications.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex PKI, certificate, and authentication issues.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage technical responsibilities with general direction.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience managing PKI systems within a federal government environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory Certificate Services (AD CS) or comparable enterprise PKI platforms.
  • Experience integrating PKI with Active Directory, IAM solutions, enterprise applications, and security tools.
  • Knowledge of federal cybersecurity and security compliance requirements.

Work Environment

This position is 100% remote, with occasional on-site attendance in the Washington, DC area if specifically requested by the customer.
