Role Summary

This strategic hire is in response to expanding project portfolios and evolving industry safety standards. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the design, development, and testing of embedded software solutions integral to aerospace systems. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain embedded software solutions for aerospace hardware platforms.
  • Port existing real-time operating systems to new processor architectures.
  • Write high-quality, optimised code in C and assembler for safety-critical systems.
  • Conduct rigorous testing and validation in line with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to meet project requirements.
  • Produce comprehensive technical documentation for design and testing processes.
  • Ensure all development aligns with relevant safety and quality standards such as DO-178C.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Proven expertise in embedded software development, specifically in C and assembler.
  • Extensive experience in safety-critical systems within the aerospace or similar sectors.
  • Hands-on experience with RTOS environments, preferably FreeRTOS or similar.
  • Strong understanding of hardware architecture, including ARM Cortex processors.
  • Knowledge of safety standards such as DO-178B/C and IEC 61508.
  • Familiarity with software configuration management and development lifecycle processes.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience working with multicore processor architectures.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols like TCP/IP and UDP.
  • Experience in embedded security practices.
  • Familiarity with MIPS or PowerPC architectures.
  • Awareness of compliance requirements in the aerospace industry.
  • Prior involvement in international projects or teams.
