Mechanical Engineer

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a growing and innovative engineering organisation based in the North East.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of technically challenging projects across sectors including renewable energy, industrial manufacturing, infrastructure, utilities, and process engineering.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, development, and delivery of mechanical engineering solutions while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems, equipment, and components.
• Produce and review engineering calculations, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Support project delivery from concept through to commissioning.
• Conduct site surveys, inspections, and technical assessments.
• Collaborate with internal teams, clients, contractors, and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company procedures.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for operational and project-related challenges.
• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices.
• Support cost control, project planning, and risk management activities.

Essential Requirements

• Degree, HNC, or HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in a Mechanical Engineer position.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and engineering standards.
• Experience working within industrial, manufacturing, energy, utilities, or construction environments.
• Proficiency with CAD software and engineering design tools.
• Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation and industry regulations.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Skills

• Chartered Engineer status (or working towards).
• Experience within renewable energy, power generation, or infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with pressure systems, HVAC, piping, rotating equipment, or process plant design.
• Knowledge of project management methodologies.
• Experience conducting FMEA, HAZOP, or other engineering assessments.
