Job Description

Job Title: Digital Operating Model Lead

Location: Hybrid, with the majority of time spent on-site Columbus, Ohio.

 

Project: A leading North American retailer with a rapid executive assessment of its Digital Operating Model, with particular emphasis on Front-End Engineering, storefront quality and engineering maturity.

 

We''re looking for an experienced Digital Operating Model Lead, based in the US, to join a small senior assessment team for an initial 5½-week engagement beginning in late August. The engagement offers the opportunity to influence the future direction on of a major retail organisation on ahead of significant technology investment. Subject to the outcome of the assessment, there is a strong expectation on that the work will progress into targeted Phase 2 deep dives during Q4, followed by a broader transformation on programme from 2027 onwards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the assessment of the client''s Digital Operating Model, governance and organisational capability.

• Assess collaboration across Product, Design, Engineering and Technology teams.

• Evaluate decision-making, planning, prioritisation and dependency management.

• Review organisational structures, leadership responsibilities and operating rhythms.

• Facilitate executive interviews, workshops and cross-functional assessment sessions.

• Coordinate day-to-day assessment activities alongside the Assessment Lead.

• Act as Lean Tree''s primary on-site point of contact throughout the engagement.

• Work closely with the UK-based assessment team to ensure evidence is captured, synthesised and translated into practical executive recommendations.

• Contribute to the final Executive Assessment Report and Investment Board recommendations.
