Risk Officer – Standalone Role – Prestigious Hedge fund - CassonX

To be considered for this standalone role reporting directly into the COO, CassonX are looking to identify someone who is a risk professional with a solid foundation in portfolio risk analytics and regulatory risk frameworks, looking to develop further within a growing asset management platform. You will be familiar with producing various types of risk reports, for both internal (risk limits, exposures and breeches etc) and external (investors requests and questions) accordingly. We are pitching the rough level of experience as 4 – 8 years in either a hedge fund, asset manager or even prime broker environment, who would like the chance to “step up” from a larger team and take their career to the next level. Whilst boasting excellent written and verbal communication skills, you will benefit from strong quantitative and analytical skills, with confidence working with large datasets, advanced Excel skills, experience with risk systems/platforms and ideally programming/data skills (e.g., Python, SQL, VBA).

Supporting regulatory and operational risk management frameworks, the Risk Officer will play a central role in monitoring, measure, and reporting on investment, operational, and counterparty risk across the firm’s fund and account structures. It is a standalone role that will heavily interact with the Front Office, but also with Investors too. Examples include:

1. Monitor daily portfolio risk exposures across funds and segregated mandates, including market risk, liquidity risk, counterparty risk, and concentration risk
2. Produce regular risk reporting to include leverage calculations (e.g., AIFMD gross/commitment methods, where applicable), VaR, stress testing, and scenario analysis
3. Maintain and enhance the firm’s risk management framework, policies, and procedures in line with FCA requirements (including IFPR/ICARA, where applicable) and AIFMD/UCITS risk rules as relevant to the firm’s fund range
4. Monitor adherence to fund investment guidelines, restrictions, and regulatory limits (e.g., position limits, leverage limits, liquidity thresholds)
5. Support the monitoring of counterparty exposure across prime brokers, executing brokers, and OTC derivative counterparties (including ISDA/CSA-related exposure)
6. Assist with the firm’s restricted list maintenance, including sanctions screening and monitoring of exchange-driven and firm-driven restrictions
7. Support liquidity risk management and stress testing, including redemption/liquidity modelling for open-ended funds
