Electrical Engineer

• Rate: £40 per hour
• Location: Manchester, M60 (Hybrid WFH)
• Job Type: Full-time (35 hours per week)

Join the Capital Programmes Division at Manchester City Council, responsible for developing and delivering Capital construction programmes valued at approximately £200m per year across the city. We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Electrical Engineer to work within our M&E project team.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Take responsibility for the electrical design, planning, management, and delivery of diverse projects and programmes.
• Engage in maintenance and refurbishment work across various sites including school programmes, listed buildings, art galleries, city centre public realm monuments, national sporting/leisure facilities, and more.
• Design and implement decarbonisation schemes and the power scheme for the Manchester Christmas Market.
• Conduct NBS specification or similar software-based calculations and feasibility studies on all types of buildings.
• Ensure compliance with building and planning legislation, Health & Safety legislation, CDM Regulations, and utilise CAD software systems effectively.
• Inspect and report on defects, ensuring high standards of electrical safety and functionality.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Electrical Engineering Degree/HND/HNC or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience.
• Experience in a recognised engineering apprenticeship.
• Proven track record in the delivery of major refurbishment and new build schemes.
• Proficient in NBS specification software or similar packages.
• Good working knowledge of building and planning legislation, Health & Safety legislation, CDM Regulations, and CAD software systems.
• Relevant commercial and contractual experience.
