Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Remote)

About the Role

Our product development teams build and ship on infrastructure that needs to be secure, scalable, reliable, and easy to work with. We are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to own and evolve that foundation, with a strong focus on developer experience: making it faster, simpler, and more empowering for engineers to build and release.

This role sits at the intersection of infrastructure/DevOps and software engineering. You don't need deep expertise in both on day one, but you do need real fundamentals in at least one, genuine competence in the other, and the ability to pick up whatever is missing quickly.

Tech Stack

• Cloud & Orchestration: Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform), GKE Autopilot (or managed Kubernetes)

• Infrastructure as Code: Terraform

• Backend: Python, FastAPI, gRPC, PostgreSQL (service-oriented architecture)

• Frontend: React, TypeScript, Next.js

(Note: You don't need prior experience with this exact stack; strong fundamentals and quick ramp-up matter more than specific tool history)

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain core infrastructure (compute, networking, CI/CD, observability) for product teams.
• Drive developer experience improvements—reducing friction, removing toil, and making the "paved path" the easy path.
• Lead triage on production issues: dig into logs, write analysis scripts, and drive incidents to resolution.
• Shape infrastructure architecture with a bias toward simplicity, scalability, and ease of use.
• Use AI tools deliberately and effectively as a force multiplier, helping others do the same.
• Partner closely with engineering teams to translate their needs into infrastructure decisions.

Requirements

• Quick Learner: Strong fundamentals and fast ramp-up speed over specific tool history.
• Kubernetes Operations: Real experience configuring, operating, or maintaining a cluster (node pools, upgrades, scaling, networking), not just deploying apps onto one.
• Infrastructure-as-Code: Hands-on experience writing and maintaining Terraform (or equivalent like Pulumi/CloudFormation) from scratch.
• Dual Competency: A strong blend of Infrastructure/DevOps and Python/software engineering skills.
• Production Ownership: Comfort debugging under pressure, reading logs, and finding root causes.
• AI-Forward: Actively uses AI tools to move faster and build better.
• Communication: Clear, effective communicator able to explain technical trade-offs to engineers and stakeholders alike.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform or GKE Autopilot.
• Background in gRPC, PostgreSQL at scale, or service-oriented architectures.
• Experience scaling infrastructure or internal developer platforms (IDPs) at a growth-stage company.
• Experience in regulated environments (e.g., HIPAA).
