Status:            Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

Pay Range:    $26-$30/Hour

Supervisor:    Site Supervisor/Expanded Learning Program Coordinator

Position Summary:

South Central LAMP is seeking a Lead Teacher to join our Early Childhood Education team and serve children and families in South Los Angeles. The Lead Teacher is responsible for the overall planning and implementation of the classroom program, providing a safe and nurturing learning environment, supporting children's development, maintaining required documentation, and partnering with families and teaching staff.

Essential Job Duties:

·       Serve as the primary classroom teacher and take responsibility for the daily operation, supervision, and learning environment of the assigned classroom.

·       Develop and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and learning activities that support children's social-emotional, cognitive, language, physical, and creative development.

·       Plan classroom experiences based on children's individual needs, interests, strengths, cultures, and developmental levels.

·       Provide active supervision of children and maintain a safe, healthy, organized, and inclusive classroom environment.

·       Observe children and complete required developmental assessments, documentation, and records, including DRDP, as assigned.

·       Use observations and assessment information to inform lesson planning, classroom activities, and support for individual children.

·       Establish and maintain positive, respectful relationships with children, families, and caregivers, including communicating about children's development, classroom experiences, and needs.

·       Plan and lead Parent-Child Interactive Literacy Activities (PCILA) as part of South Central LAMP's Family Literacy Program, engaging parents/caregivers and children in developmentally appropriate literacy experiences.

·       Work collaboratively with Assistant Teachers, and other program staff; provide guidance and support to classroom staff as assigned.

·       Participate in family engagement activities, staff meetings, professional development, program events, and other activities that support the ECE program.

·       Maintain compliance with California State Preschool Program (CSPP), Community Care Licensing, health and safety, and South Central LAMP requirements and policies.

·       Maintain accurate and timely classroom records and documentation.

·       Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

·       Holds a valid California Child Development Permit – Teacher Permit or higher.

·       Knowledge of child development principles and experience working with children birth to five years old.

·       Experience working in an early childhood education classroom, childcare setting, or similar learning environment preferred.

·       Commitment to providing a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for children and families.

·       Ability to work collaboratively with classroom teaching teams and support multiple classrooms as needed.

·       Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and staff.

·       Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

·       Commitment to ongoing professional growth and continuous improvement.

·       Experience with California State Preschool Program (CSPP), ECERS, CLASS, and DRDP preferred.

·       Experience facilitating parent-child activities, family literacy, or adult education is preferred.

Requirements:

·       Successful completion of a background check, fingerprint clearance, and criminal record review as required by California Community Care Licensing.

·       Submission of a negative tuberculosis (TB) test result or clearance as required by licensing regulations.

·       Completion of required health screening and immunization requirements.

·       Must comply with mandated reporter responsibilities under California law.

·       Must maintain required permits, clearances, and certifications throughout employment.

Compensation & Benefits:

·       Part-Time, 28 Hours/Week (Monday 8:00am-2:30pm, Tuesday-Friday 8:00am-2:00pm)

·       $26–$30/hour, depending on education, experience, and qualifications.
