Responsibilities 

  • Perform engineering design and calculations for water and wastewater pipeline and facility projects. 
  • Plan and design water and wastewater conveyance systems. 
  • Support the planning and design of facilities, including pump stations, lift stations, and treatment plants. 
  • Perform pipeline hydraulic flow and pressure calculations. 
  • Complete pump calculations and develop system curves for pump sizing. 
  • Prepare Opinions of Probable Construction Cost (OPCCs). 
  • Produce contract documents, including plans, specifications, and bid forms. 
  • Conduct site visits during design and construction to observe installation activities. 
  • Review shop drawings and submittals for compliance with project design documents. 

Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university. 
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. 
  • One to two years of relevant water and wastewater infrastructure design experience preferred. 
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with other design disciplines. 
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Familiarity with CAD software, including Autodesk Civil 3D or Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
