Job Description

Computer Network Architect | Scott Air Force Base, IL, United States | Hybrid

We are hiring on behalf of a prominent technology and defense contractor known for its commitment to innovation and mission success. This organization empowers its employees to tackle complex challenges and deliver cutting-edge solutions for critical government programs.

The Role

  • Oversee the installation, configuration, testing, monitoring, and servicing of network equipment for projects supporting vital defense networks.
  • Manage and maintain out-of-band management networks using Cisco and Juniper devices, implementing customized baseline configurations.
  • Perform software upgrades on network hardware, ensuring system currency and security.
  • Develop and update project planning documentation, including IP addressing schemes and port assignments.
  • Conduct systems analysis to determine functional requirements and consult with users to meet hardware, software, and system needs.
  • Collaborate with project managers and customers to resolve issues with requirements and facilitate necessary approvals.

What You'll Need

  • Knowledge of network hardware specifications, configuration, testing processes, and industry standards.
  • Experience in network engineering, problem management, and performance management.
  • Understanding of networking architecture, technology evaluation, and needs assessment.
  • Familiarity with data and voice network design, router-to-router connections using BGP and ISIS, and switch-to-switch trunking with VLANs.
  • Experience with common network services (e.g., BGP, OSPF, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, WAN, VPN, VLAN, VRF) and appliances (routers, firewalls, load balancers).
  • Ability to configure, activate, test, and analyze network systems.
  • An active Secret security clearance is required.
  • DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security+ CE or equivalent).
