Join a leading transportation technology organization supporting mission-critical telecom and financial operations. We are seeking an experienced Telecom Services & Expense Management / SQL Database Consultant to optimize telecom expense management processes, provide expert SQL database support, and drive financial analysis, reporting, and operational improvements.
Telecom Services & Expense Management / SQL Database Consultant Responsibilities

• Lead the optimization of telecom expense management processes, including invoice auditing, forecasting, budgeting, procurement planning, and financial reporting.
• Analyze telecom carrier invoices to identify cost savings opportunities, billing discrepancies, and overcharges.
• Develop executive dashboards and reports using SQL and Tableau to support financial planning and operational decisions.
• Prepare and evaluate budget variance reports, cost-benefit analyses (CBAs), ROI assessments, and annual forecasts.
• Monitor project budgets, spending, and vendor contract funding while tracking planned versus actual expenses.
• Administer and maintain SQL databases, including backups, restores, indexing, performance tuning, and database health monitoring.
• Design, build, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines that ingest data from APIs, vendor portals, Excel files, and external systems.
• Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, functions, and performance optimization strategies.
• Manage database security, user permissions, auditing, compliance, schema updates, and production deployments.
• Troubleshoot database performance, ingestion issues, failed jobs, and data integrity concerns while documenting processes and providing stakeholder guidance.
• Support cloud database environments including Azure SQL, AWS RDS, DevOps, and CI/CD deployment practices.

Telecom Services & Expense Management / SQL Database Consultant Qualifications
Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of Telecom Services & Expense Management experience.
• Expert-level SQL development and database administration skills.
• Advanced experience with Tableau and large-scale data analytics.
• Strong financial background with budgeting, forecasting, reporting, invoice auditing, and expense management.
• Experience creating ETL/ELT processes and working with APIs, external data sources, and enterprise databases.
• Proven expertise in database administration, performance tuning, indexing, stored procedures, and query optimization.
• Experience with PeopleSoft Finance Modules and ServiceNow Reporting Modules.
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently with exceptional attention to detail.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• Experience with telecom expense management, financial auditing, and project-based financial management.
• Experience with cloud database platforms such as Azure SQL or AWS RDS.
• Knowledge of data lake architecture, blob storage, DevOps, and automated deployment pipelines.

This Telecom Services & Expense Management / SQL Database Consultant role is a fully on-site position in New York, NY. No telework is permitted.
