Role: Digital Project Manager – Retail Energy / Utilities

Location: Hybrid – Springfield, VA / Tysons, VA or Baltimore, MD
Schedule: 3 Days/Week Onsite – Tuesday through Thursday
Duration: 6–12 Month Contract

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Digital Project Manager to lead complex, cross-functional technology and business transformation initiatives within a Retail Energy / Utility environment. The ideal candidate will have strong project management, financial acumen, stakeholder management, and experience delivering modernization initiatives involving CRM, EDI, billing, pricing, contracts, and enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead projects through the full lifecycle, from initiation and planning through implementation and post-production.
  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, resources, milestones, dependencies, RAID logs, and deliverables.
  • Lead cross-functional teams across Business, IT, Finance, Operations, Vendors, and third-party partners.
  • Manage project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, accruals, invoice tracking, and financial reconciliation.
  • Coordinate initiatives involving CRM, EDI, billing, pricing, contracts, customer operations, and supply/scheduling.
  • Drive digital transformation, modernization, system integration, data migration, and business process improvement initiatives.
  • Manage vendors, SOWs, contracts, deliverables, dependencies, and change requests.
  • Identify and proactively manage risks, issues, dependencies, and critical-path activities.
  • Prepare project status reports and presentations for executive leadership and Steering Committees.
  • Facilitate requirements discussions, process mapping, gap analysis, decision workshops, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Support testing, defect resolution, deployment readiness, change management, knowledge transfer, and post-implementation reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with security, audit, governance, and operational requirements.
  • Translate complex technical and business information into clear communication for executives and delivery teams.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of IT/Digital Project Management experience delivering complex, multi-workstream projects.
  • Strong experience managing cross-functional teams, vendors, and third-party service providers.
  • Experience with financial management, accruals, budgeting, forecasting, and project financial reporting.
  • Experience with digital transformation, modernization, system implementation, integration, or process improvement.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise business processes involving CRM, EDI, billing, pricing, and contracts.
  • Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment with competing priorities and complex dependencies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project, OnePlan, Azure DevOps, Jira, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Retail Energy, Utilities, or regulated industry experience.
  • Experience with customer operations, billing, pricing, supply, scheduling, contracts, or energy market processes.
  • Experience with change management and organizational readiness.
  • Experience leading enterprise modernization or digital transformation programs.
  • PMP, PMI-ACP, CMMI, or equivalent certification.
  • Understanding of GAAP, O&M, and Capital accounting practices.
