About the Role
The Program Manager, Business & Data is a critical role responsible for structuring ambiguous business problems, building the model, and driving the analysis to a clear, defensible number. You will leverage AI tools and co-work agents to pull and clean data, build models, and surface insight faster, focusing your expertise on framing the right question and driving the analysis to a decision leadership can act on.
This role sits inside Billtrust’s Strategy Office as it scales to support a growing portfolio of Strategic Programs Programs and AI initiatives. You’ll partner across Billtrust’s Customer org, Go-to-Market, Finance, and Operations to structure problems, build models, and turn data into decisions. This is a build-from-scratch environment: the Strategy Office is standing up execution capacity, and the person in this seat will help define how business analysis gets run here. This role is based in Nashville, TN, working onsite from our Gulch office. Priorities in this seat shift with the portfolio — you'll be deployed against whatever is most urgent, and you'll be expected to move fast when it changes.
What You’ll Do
Problem Structuring & Analysis
- Take a loosely defined business question and structure it into a clear analytical approach, with a defined hypothesis and a path to an answer.
- Build financial and operational models to size opportunities, evaluate trade-offs, and support decision-making across Strategic Programs/Initiatives.
- Use AI tools to accelerate data pulls, cleaning, and first-pass analysis, focusing your own time on interpreting the result and stress-testing the logic.
- Data & Modeling
- Build and maintain dashboards and reporting that give leadership a clear, current view of program performance and business metrics.
- Partner with Data and Analytics teams to source, validate, and structure the data needed to answer a given business question.
- Leverage AI co-work agents to draft analysis summaries and model documentation, freeing time for higher-judgment work.
Program Execution
- Own execution of assigned Strategic Programs/Initiatives end to end, converting a scattered list of open items into a structured plan with clear owners and dates, and drive it to closure.
- Identify risks and dependencies across cross-functional workstreams and escalate early.
- Support the Strategy Office in scaling program and analytical capacity as the Strategic Programs portfolio grows.
What You’ll Bring
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, IT/Data, or Engineering.
- Systematic thinker — breaks a messy problem into parts, works it in order, and doesn't lose the thread.
- 3–5 years of experience in business analysis, strategy, finance, or a related analytical role, or a recent graduate with strong internship or co-op experience in the same.Demonstrated ability to build AI into personal workflows for data analysis, modeling, and reporting.
- Strong quantitative and modeling skills, with the ability to structure a problem before reaching for a spreadsheet.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity, able to take a laundry list of open items and chase it to closure.
- Advanced Excel or equivalent modeling tool proficiency.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to present a number and defend the logic behind it.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, or FP&A.
- Background in a high-growth or PE-backed environment.
- Familiarity with SQL or other data querying tools.
