VDI Support Engineer
Location: Charlotte, NC (On-site)
Alternate Location: Jacksonville, FL
Role Overview
This employer is seeking a Senior Virtual Desktop Support Engineer to oversee the design support, administration, troubleshooting, and optimization of enterprise virtual desktop infrastructure. This position plays a critical role in ensuring high availability, performance, and security for virtual desktops and application delivery systems. The selected professional will lead efforts to optimize end-user experiences while collaborating across diverse infrastructure and network operations teams.
Key Responsibilities

• Provide Level 2 and Level 3 engineering support for virtual desktop infrastructure environments.
• Troubleshoot complex issues involving persistent and non-persistent virtual desktops, user profiles, and session performance.
• Perform root cause analysis and manage system problems to prevent recurring incidents.
• Administer and support connection servers, unified access gateways, and application volumes.
• Maintain virtual desktop golden templates, system images, and application layers.
• Monitor infrastructure health, capacity, and performance utilizing advanced telemetry tools.
• Develop PowerShell scripts to automate provisioning, image updates, and system health checks.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and network teams to align on security compliance and patch management.

Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience: Five or more years of dedicated experience supporting virtual desktop infrastructure or enterprise virtualized environments.
Technical Skills: Strong expertise in virtual desktop lifecycle management, image provisioning, and profile management solutions. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Windows Server environments, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy objects. Proven capability in PowerShell scripting for automation and administration.
Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code or automated image generation tools.
• Experience supporting thin client endpoints and remote access solutions.
• Relevant technical certifications in virtualized environments or enterprise operating systems.
• Experience operating within highly regulated industry environments.
