Who are we?

We’re Standard Life, a retirement specialist focused entirely on retirement savings and income. We champion the belief that everyone’s journey to and through retirement can be better, and for more than 200 years, we’ve been helping our customers plan and prepare for their financial futures.

Life today is increasingly complicated, uncertain and unpredictable. People move through different careers, face unexpected moments and navigate important choices. We offer our colleagues flexibility, trust and benefits that work for whatever life brings. In return we expect curiosity, connection, accountability and high standards. We make room for what matters - so you can bring your best, every day.

The role

This is an exciting opportunity to play a part in shaping and delivering Standard Life’s approach to sustainability and climate reporting at a time of significant change in the external reporting landscape.

We’re looking for a Sustainability & Climate Reporting Specialist who wants to build on their existing expertise, bringing strong technical reporting expertise, sound judgement and a passion for turning complex requirements into clear, high-quality external reporting.

You’ll work across Finance and the wider business to help translate evolving requirements into robust disclosures, reporting processes and controls, providing technical expertise and practical support as we strengthen our existing reporting and prepare for new requirements, including the UK Sustainability Reporting Standards (UK SRS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the production of sustainability and climate disclosures for Standard Life and relevant entities, helping ensure reporting is accurate, complete, well evidenced and delivered to timetable.
  • Work with data and disclosure owners across the business, gathering and reviewing information required for sustainability reporting.
  • Support implementation of emerging reporting requirements, including UK SRS, helping assess new requirements and document the implications for disclosures, data and reporting processes.
  • Undertake technical research and analysis, building your knowledge of sustainability reporting standards and external developments to help translate requirements into practical reporting actions.
  • Support audit and assurance activity, helping maintain evidence, respond to information requests and ensure reporting judgements and conclusions are appropriately documented.

What we're looking for:

  • An understanding of sustainability, climate, financial or corporate reporting, ideally from a financial services context, with an interest in developing deeper knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks and emerging requirements such as TCFD and UK SRS S1/S2.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work through detailed reporting requirements, data and supporting evidence and identify inconsistencies or areas requiring further investigation.
  • Good organisation and delivery skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities and work effectively to defined reporting timetables and deadlines.
  • A collaborative approach, building effective relationships with colleagues across Finance and the wider business to obtain, understand and challenge information required for reporting.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to learn, keeping up to date with a rapidly developing sustainability reporting landscape and building your technical expertise over time.

We want to hire the whole version of you.

We are committed to ensuring that everyone feels accepted and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. If your experience looks different from what we’ve advertised and you believe that you can bring value to the role, we’d love to hear from you.

If you require any adjustments to the recruitment process, please let us know so we can help you to be at your best.

We’re reviewing applications as they come in and may close this role before the closing date, so apply early to avoid missing out.
