Senior Health Intelligence Programmer
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for developing, enhancing, and maintaining the core data processing platforms of the company, driving business solutions by querying existing databases to create data models for actionable reporting, and creating and maintaining reporting applications that result in efficient data extraction.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and deploy enterprise and external client-grade critical reports.
- Analyze raw data, identify data and report discrepancies, and ensure report accuracy.
- Administer, configure, manage, and monitor reporting platforms, security, processes, and upgrades.
- Manage report security, access, archival, retention, and assist with audits.
- Collaborate with operations, marketing, research, and IT teams to achieve business objectives.
- Prepare accurate and relevant reports that provide insights for leadership and clients.
- Independently profile data, test outputs, and produce support documentation.
- Research data discrepancies and troubleshoot SQL code, transformations, SSIS packages, views, and stored procedures.
- Communicate reporting requirements and methodologies to Data Analysts.
- Present data analysis results and business trends to leadership.
- Adhere to HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules and all corporate policies.
- Mentor junior team members, train peers, and promote best practices.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and prioritize deliverables effectively.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 4–5 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- High proficiency in SQL and strong analytical/database skills.
- High proficiency with IBM Cognos Reporting, Framework Manager, and Cognos Administration.
- Additional reporting tools preferred: SSRS, Power BI, Tableau.
- Experience with data architecture, data modeling, and performance tuning.
- High proficiency with Toad, DBeaver, Workbench, SSMS, SSAS, and SSIS.
- Strong data visualization and user experience design skills.
- Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
- Experience working with Data Warehouse environments.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree.
- Knowledge of business operations, system inputs/outputs, and reporting processes.
- Healthcare industry experience, including healthcare claims, utilization management, or case management data.
- Experience with Visual Studio and TFS/Azure DevOps source control.
- Familiarity with Agile methodology and SDLC processes.
- Experience supporting ETL development.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Unix, or Shell scripting.
- Experience working in regulated industries.
