Role Description
Our Client is seeking a Vice President of Technology to join its Operating Team and support a portfolio of high-growth, private equity-backed software companies. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to CTOs and engineering leaders, helping scale engineering organizations, improve delivery execution, optimize cloud infrastructure, drive security and compliance initiatives, and support post-acquisition technology integrations.

This is a hands-on operating role, not a traditional corporate VP position. The ideal candidate combines executive leadership experience with deep technical credibility and has a track record of scaling engineering teams within PE-backed SaaS environments. Portfolio Company Leadership
Partner directly with CTOs and engineering leaders across multiple portfolio companies. Act as a trusted advisor, mentor, and execution partner to help teams scale effectively. Step into player-coach situations during critical projects, leadership gaps, or escalations.

Engineering Organization & Leadership
Advise on engineering organizational design, team structures, hiring strategies, and career frameworks. Coach CTOs and engineering managers on leadership development, culture, retention, and operational excellence. Improve engineering processes, team effectiveness, and accountability. SDLC & Delivery Excellence
Assess and improve software development lifecycle (SDLC) maturity. Drive adoption of best practices around Agile delivery, CI/CD, release management, testing automation, code reviews, and branching strategies.

Improve engineering KPIs including DORA metrics, release cadence, backlog health, predictability, and delivery quality. Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps
Evaluate AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform environments for scalability, reliability, security, and cost efficiency. Lead cloud cost optimization initiatives, budgeting, forecasting, rightsizing, and governance efforts. Promote infrastructure automation and modern DevOps practices. Security & Compliance
Support portfolio companies in achieving and maintaining SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR, and related compliance frameworks.

Embed security throughout the software development lifecycle. Partner with technology and compliance teams to proactively address security risks. Data & AI Strategy
Evaluate data platforms, governance practices, reporting capabilities, and analytics maturity. Help identify and prioritize AI/ML and automation opportunities aligned to business goals. Improve overall data management and reporting capabilities. M&A Integration
Lead or support post-acquisition technology integrations. Align engineering organizations, development processes, tooling, and architectures across acquired businesses.

Translate technical diligence findings into actionable integration roadmaps. Offshore Team Strategy
Advise on establishing and scaling offshore development teams and vendor partnerships. Improve distributed team effectiveness, communication, accountability, and productivity. Executive Collaboration
Work closely with CTOs, Product, Customer Success, and Go-to-Market leaders. Help technology leaders communicate effectively with executive teams, boards, and investors.

Ensure technology initiatives drive measurable business outcomes, including growth, retention, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency. Skills & Requirements
10+ years of engineering leadership experience. Former VP Engineering, CTO, Head of Engineering, CIO, or Technology Operating Executive. Experience leading engineering organizations of 40+ people. Background in private equity-backed SaaS, growth-stage technology companies, or technology consulting/advisory environments.

Deep expertise in software engineering, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, CI/CD, Agile delivery, and organizational scaling. Experience coaching technology leaders and improving engineering maturity. Strong understanding of post-merger integrations and offshore delivery models. Excellent executive communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills. Served as a CTO, VP Engineering, Head of Engineering, or Technology Operating Leader. Worked in private equity-backed software companies. Scaled engineering organizations through rapid growth.

Led DevOps, cloud modernization, cost optimization, and engineering transformation initiatives. Experience with M&A integrations and offshore development organizations. Strong executive presence with the ability to advise CTOs and leadership teams. Benefits/Other Compensation
