Job Description

A globally leading consumer device company headquartered in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a User Study Researcher to join the Interaction & Human Factors team, driving data collection, study execution, and dataset validation for next-generation sensor-based interactions.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proven execution in qualitative user research, user studies, recruitment, and protocol facilitation

  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and structured note-taking

  • Deep experience reviewing, validating, and correcting labeled datasets, transcripts, and automated outputs

  • Hands-on capability to perform manual data annotation (audio, video, sensor, text) against strict labeling guidelines

  • Solid understanding of human factors, ergonomics, or usability principles for consumer products

  • Comfortable with command-line operations using Mac Terminal

  • Degree in Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Mechanical Engineering, Psychology, or related discipline, backed by 1–3 years of hands-on research or data operations experience

Responsibilities:

  • Managing participant recruitment, scheduling, session coordination, and protocol compliance

  • Setting up, troubleshooting, and maintaining specialized study and data collection equipment

  • Facilitating in-person user studies, surveys, and tracking feedback workflows

  • Handling sensitive participant data securely across test devices and storage systems

  • Validating auto-labeled data and machine-generated transcripts against source recordings, correcting errors, and flagging systematic issues

  • Applying LLM-based tooling and human judgment to accelerate and QA data annotation, transcript review, and preliminary analysis

  • Tracking annotation quality and consistency to refine labeling schemas and operational workflows

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with motion capture hardware and software

  • Experience with quantitative analysis tools and programming languages (Python, R, MatLab, JMP)

  • Experience with automated data annotation pipelines and multi-modal dataset QA

  • UX research certificates, training programs, or human-subjects research backgrounds

Type: Contract (W2)

Duration: 12 months with extension

Work Location: Sunnyvale, CA (Onsite)

Pay range: $55.00 - $70.00/hr (DOE)
