Job Description
Summary
Green Light Lawn Care is seeking a dedicated, safety-focused, and highly reliable Snow Removal Equipment Operator to help our winter management operations in Tippecanoe County and surrounding areas. We have positions available for both Full-time and Part-time winter schedules. In this role, you will operate a variety of mid-to-large-scale machinery to clear snow, manage ice accumulation, and maintain open access for high-traffic commercial and residential properties. This is an on-call, weather-dependent position that requires sharp critical thinking and rapid deployment during winter storm events.
A valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record is mandatory for this position.
Pay Rate: $25 - $35/hour or "Competitive pay based on experience”
Core Responsibilities
- Winter Snow Management: Drive and operate heavy snow removal machinery—including skid steers, wheel loaders with containment plows, and commercial plow trucks—to clear heavy accumulation safely and efficiently.
- Ice Control Operations: Oversee the proper calibration and application of bulk de-icing materials (salt, sand, or liquid treatments) to establish safe driving and walking surfaces.
- Emergency Storm Response: Participate in high-priority, on-call snow removal shifts, including overnight, weekend, and holiday responses under intense winter storm conditions.
- Logistics, Hauling & Stacking: Safely load, chain down, transport, and unload heavy snow pusher attachments or specialized machinery using company trucks and trailers. Coordinate the safe piling and relocation of massive snowbanks on-site.
- Fleet Maintenance & Preparation: Conduct rigorous pre- and post-trip safety inspections. Check fluid levels, grease hydraulic pivot points, clear packed ice from tracks/tires, and verify plow lighting systems are functional. Responsibly clean, fuel, and organize company equipment at the end of each shift.
- Property Respect & Safety: Navigate tight, low-visibility residential and commercial properties carefully, avoiding damage to underlying turf, hidden curbs, irrigation heads, utility lines, and parked vehicles.
- Crew & Dispatch Collaboration: Coordinate seamlessly with ground crews (sidewalk shovelers) and communicate effectively with supervisors or dispatchers using two-way radios and hand signals.
