Role Overview
The Lead Solutions Architect AI & Automation, HR Technology is a senior subject matter expert responsible for designing end-to-end solution architectures that deliver innovative, scalable, and secure AI and automation capabilities across Disney s corporate functions. This role supports Disney s global storytellers and brands by helping HR Technology modernize processes, improve efficiency, and advance strategic business outcomes.

The position partners closely with Domain Architects, Solution Architects, Enterprise Architects, GIS, and business and technology leaders to ensure solutions are strategically aligned, technically sound, secure, and scalable across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities
As a lead architect, this role designs, governs, and guides AI and automation solutions for HR Technology. The architect ensures solutions align with enterprise architecture standards, support measurable business value, and reflect Disney s collaborative and innovation-focused environment.

Primary responsibilities include:
Lead the end-to-end design and architecture of AI and automation solutions across HR Technology, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture strategy, technical standards, and governance frameworks.
Create detailed solution architecture specifications, architecture decision records (ADRs), and technical design documents that clearly define architecture patterns, integration approaches, and technology choices.
Conduct solution design reviews and provide architectural governance for AI and automation initiatives, ensuring consistency with reference architectures, standards, and enterprise roadmaps.
Partner closely with the Domain Architect to align on architecture patterns, integration standards, and technology roadmaps, while translating business requirements into scalable, secure, cloud-native solution architectures.
Lead technology evaluations, proof-of-concept efforts, and platform selection for AI and automation tooling, including enterprise AI platforms and orchestration frameworks.
Serve as a hands-on subject matter expert and mentor by training and guiding engineers and other individual contributors on AI, automation, and solution architecture best practices.
Support architectural reviews for AI and automation solutions and present recommendations in architecture and security review forums, including ARB and GIS reviews.
Break down organizational goals into clear architectural outcomes, define strategies and priorities for AI and automation capabilities, and connect team deliverables to HR and corporate objectives.
Provide coaching and feedback to team members, support accountability for commitments, encourage career development, and foster an inclusive environment aligned with Disney values.
Explain complex AI and automation concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders, negotiate trade-offs, and influence adoption of recommended architectures and patterns.

Required Qualifications
Deep expertise designing AI solutions, including generative AI, large language model (LLM) integration, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), AI orchestration frameworks, and responsible AI governance practices.
Strong background in intelligent process automation, RPA integration patterns, event-driven architectures, workflow orchestration, and hyperautomation strategies.
Proficiency in application architecture, including microservices, API-first design, cloud-native patterns across Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform, integration architecture, data pipeline design, and security-by-design principles.
Experience designing scalable, services-oriented architectures on major cloud platforms and integrating AI/ML capabilities into enterprise solutions.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity, solve complex problems, and identify innovative solutions as a trusted subject matter expert and lead problem-solver.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams, build partnerships, and work as a team player to meet objectives.
Proven experience mentoring, training, or guiding other engineers or architects, including providing clear, timely feedback and aligning work with organizational goals.
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
7+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or solution architecture roles, including significant experience in AI/ML or automation-focused initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
Hands-on implementation experience with enterprise AI platforms such as Microsoft Copilot, Moveworks, Claude (Anthropic), or similar conversational AI and agentic systems.
Hands-on implementation experience with one or more automation platforms like UiPath, Workato, n8n, or power platform.
Experience with AI/ML pipelines, vector databases, and embedding models, including integration into production-grade applications.
Familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol), agentic orchestration, and multi-model architectures for enterprise AI ecosystems.
TOGAF or similar enterprise architecture certification, or prior experience in enterprise architecture roles within large, complex organizations
