Role: Android Feature Engineer
Remote
 
Seeking a Senior Android Engineer to join a high-impact mobile engineering team supporting a large-scale, customer-facing Android application used by millions of users.
This is a native Android feature engineering role, focused on building the experiences customers interact with every day, not platform or infrastructure development. The ideal candidate has recent experience designing, developing, and shipping customer-facing Android features within large-scale consumer mobile applications. You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, Backend Engineers, and fellow Mobile Engineers to create intuitive, scalable experiences that directly influence customer engagement, adoption, retention, and satisfaction.
Examples of feature areas include product discovery, shopping experiences, personalization, loyalty programs, account management, checkout flows, and other consumer-facing capabilities.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy native Android features using Kotlin and the Android SDK
  • Build intuitive, responsive, and scalable customer-facing mobile experiences
  • Partner with Product, UX, and Engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Develop reusable UI components and scalable feature architectures
  • Integrate RESTful APIs and backend services to deliver seamless user experiences
  • Optimize application performance, responsiveness, and reliability across Android devices
  • Participate in technical design discussions, architecture reviews, and feature planning sessions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues impacting customer-facing functionality
  • Contribute to code reviews, engineering standards, and mobile development best practices
  • Collaborate closely with QA and release teams to ensure high-quality feature delivery
  • Utilize analytics, experimentation, and customer feedback to improve product experiences
  • Support ongoing feature enhancements and new mobile product initiatives
Required Qualifications
  • Strong professional experience developing native Android applications with Kotlin
  • Deep knowledge of the Android SDK and modern Android development practices
  • Experience building and maintaining customer-facing mobile applications
  • Demonstrated success delivering Android features from requirements through production deployment
  • Experience working within large-scale consumer mobile applications
  • Strong understanding of Android architecture patterns, including MVVM, Clean Architecture, or similar approaches
  • Experience developing complex UI flows and highly interactive mobile experiences
  • Experience integrating RESTful APIs and backend services
  • Ability to write maintainable, scalable, and testable code
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience navigating and contributing to large, complex codebases
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with Product Managers, UX Designers, and cross-functional engineering teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Jetpack Compose
  • Experience supporting applications with millions of active users
  • Background building eCommerce, retail, marketplace, or other consumer-facing mobile applications
  • Experience owning features throughout the complete product lifecycle
  • Familiarity with analytics and experimentation platforms
  • Experience with A/B testing and feature optimization initiatives
  • CI/CD pipeline and automated testing experience
  • Experience improving application performance and customer experience metrics
  • Agile development experience within product-focused teams
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and mobile accessibility best practices
  • Experience owning major customer journeys such as search, personalization, loyalty, account management, digital commerce, or checkout experiences
