Job Description

Service Engineer

Forklift & Warehouse Equipment

Location: North West
Role type: Field-based

A well-established material handling company supplying and supporting forklift trucks and warehouse equipment to a wide range of customers is looking to recruit a Field Service Engineer to join its team.

This role is primarily field based, with some on-site work, and involves maintaining and servicing a fleet of trucks across the North West.

The Role

As a Service Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out planned servicing and maintenance on a range of forklift trucks and warehouse equipment across customer sites throughout the North West.

This is a servicing-focused role, with no breakdown call-outs or repair work required initially. It would suit a hands-on engineer looking to build their experience within the materials handling industry, with full training and support provided to develop their skills across fault-finding, repairs, maintenance and breakdown work as they progress.

You will be responsible for:

  • Servicing and carrying out routine maintenance on a range of forklift trucks and warehouse equipment
  • Working on a variety of equipment including electric, LPG and diesel counterbalance, pallet and reach trucks
  • Completing planned maintenance and inspections to a high standard
  • Carrying out basic checks and identifying any issues requiring further attention
  • Representing the company professionally at customer sites
  • Managing your workload independently while maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety
  • Working closely with experienced engineers and the wider service team to develop your technical knowledge

Experience & Skills

Essential:

  • Hands-on engineering experience
  • Engineering qualification or apprenticeship, ideally within mechanical engineering, automotive, plant or a similar discipline
  • Good practical and mechanical aptitude
  • Willingness to learn and develop within the materials handling industry
  • Able to work independently in a field-based role
  • Full UK driving licence

Highly Desirable:

  • Previous experience working with forklift trucks, plant, agricultural or similar equipment
  • Experience with Still or Linde equipment
  • LOLER Certification
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, hydraulic or mechanical systems

Training

  • Full training and ongoing support will be provided
  • Manufacturer or product training available
  • Opportunity to develop from a servicing-focused role into a wider Field Service Engineer position, gaining experience in fault-finding, repairs, maintenance and breakdowns
  • Development within the business is encouraged, making this an excellent opportunity for an engineer at the start of their career

Package & Benefits

  • £30,000 – £32,000 per annum
  • Door-to-door pay
  • Overtime available and paid at time and a half or double time
  • Company van
  • Phone and laptop provided
  • Pension scheme
  • Death in service benefit

Hours

  • Monday to Friday
  • 8:30am – 5:00pm
  • Overtime available

Tools

  • All personal tools are fully insured by the company
  • Specialist tools will be provided by the company
