Job description

Looking to start your career in cyber security?

Our client is looking for a motivated Trainee Cyber Security Analyst to join their team and learn how to protect an organisation against evolving cyber threats. This is a chance to turn your interest and early knowledge into real-world skills, with structured training and support from experienced IT and security colleagues.

If you're curious about how cyber attacks happen, enjoy solving problems and want to help organisations stay secure, we'd like to hear from you.

The role

Working closely with experienced IT and security colleagues, you'll learn to identify threats, support incident response and help strengthen security across the organisation's systems and networks. Full training will be provided.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring security alerts and helping investigate suspicious activity using SIEM and endpoint protection tools, with guidance from senior analysts.
  • Assisting with incident response, from initial investigation through to containment and recovery.
  • Helping review phishing reports, unusual account activity and potential security issues.
  • Supporting the review of vulnerability scan results and following up on fixes with technical teams.
  • Keeping accurate incident records and helping produce clear reports on findings and recommended actions.
  • Assisting with access reviews, security procedures and staff awareness initiatives.
  • Building your knowledge of emerging threats and suggesting ways to improve security.

About you

You'll bring a curious mind, a methodical approach and a genuine enthusiasm for learning. Previous professional experience in cyber security isn't essential. We're looking for:

  • A strong interest in cyber security, shown through study, personal projects, home labs, CTF challenges or self-directed learning.
  • A basic understanding of networking, operating systems and common cyber threats.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to explain things clearly.
  • A willingness to learn, take on feedback and work as part of a team.

Desirable: a relevant degree, apprenticeship or qualification; CompTIA Security+ (or working towards it); experience in an IT support or helpdesk role; and any exposure to tools such as Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk or Microsoft Defender, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) or scripting (PowerShell, Python).

Why apply?

This is an excellent opportunity to launch your career in cyber security. You'll receive hands-on training across threat detection, incident response and vulnerability management, with support to develop your skills and work towards industry certifications, all while contributing to meaningful security work.

Interested? Apply with your CV to be considered.
