Principal Radiation Physicist | Grange-over-Sands, United Kingdom | Hybrid

The Role

  • Supervise and conduct assessments and experiments to support system qualification.
  • Contribute to ongoing design optimisation and produce/review radiological safety justifications for design solutions.
  • Direct the development of in-house toolsets to meet departmental research and development goals.
  • Support detailed shielding design, balancing build constraints with system performance requirements.
  • Design and validate radiation shielding for critical national programmes.

What You'll Need

  • A relevant STEM degree in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, or Nuclear Engineering.
  • Demonstrable experience using radiation transport codes such as MCNP, MCBEND, or Attilla.
  • Thorough understanding of radiation physics and its practical application.
  • Experience in radiation safety studies, behaviours, and radiation metrology.
  • Knowledge of the ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable) principle.
