Role: Python Automation Engineer – Networking
Location: San Jose, CA (Hybrid, 3 Days in a week)
Duration: Long Term Contract
Experience: 5–8 years

Job Summary: We are seeking a technically strong Python Automation Engineer with proven expertise in building scalable automation frameworks and a solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols. The ideal candidate can independently design automation architecture and automate complex network testing scenarios.

Key Responsibilities:

·        Design, develop, and maintain robust Python-based automation frameworks from scratch.

·        Build reusable test libraries and automate functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end network testing.

·        Automate network configuration, validation, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

·        Integrate automated suites into CI/CD pipelines and analyze test failures.

·        Collaborate with development, QA, and networking teams to improve coverage and product quality.

Required Skills – Advanced Python:

·        Strong hands-on Python programming, OOP, decorators, generators, concurrency, and asynchronous programming.

·        Experience building reusable Python modules, packages, and custom libraries.

·        Excellent debugging, scripting, and problem-solving skills.

Required Skills – Automation Frameworks:

·        Hands-on expertise with Pytest, Robot Framework, or comparable Python frameworks.

·        Demonstrated ability to architect and develop automation frameworks from scratch.

·        Experience with fixtures, parameterization, logging, reporting, exception handling, and REST API automation.

·        CI/CD integration using Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or GitHub Actions.

Required Skills – Networking:

·        Strong understanding of TCP/IP, OSI model, TCP, UDP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, DHCP, SSH, and TLS/SSL.

·        Working knowledge of routing, switching, VLANs, NAT, VPNs, firewalls, and network troubleshooting.

·        Experience analyzing packets and traffic with Wireshark or tcpdump.

·        Ability to translate networking and protocol-level scenarios into automated tests.

Tools & Technologies:

·        Python, Pytest, Robot Framework, Linux/Unix, Git, Jenkins, REST APIs, JSON, YAML, Wireshark, tcpdump.

·        Advantage: Docker, Scapy, Paramiko, Netmiko.

Preferred Qualifications:

·        Exposure to network security, cloud networking, SD-WAN, proxies, Zero Trust, and enterprise networking products.

·        Experience with network traffic simulation, performance testing, and Agile delivery.

·        Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Electronics, Telecommunications, or related engineering discipline.

Key Selection Criteria:

·        Can independently design and build Python automation frameworks—not merely run existing scripts.

·        Demonstrates advanced coding and practical debugging capability.

·        Understands networking protocols and can diagnose network-level issues.

·        Has hands-on experience automating TCP/IP or other network protocol tests.
