Job Description
This position requires a candidate who has 3-5 years of experience in communications and media relations. The candidate must have excellent writing skills and be able to work responsively with local media on a daily basis. The candidate must be able to multi-task as the duties over the course of a day will be varied. Candidate must be able to write on deadline, and to interact with reporters and with legal staff and intervention/prevention staff. Knowledge of legal or criminal justice system is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
· Handling reporter requests
· Writing press releases
· Updating website and social media
· Coordinating events
· Staffing the District Attorney at events
· Assisting with press conferences
· Daily press clip tracking
· Drafting quarterly office newsletters
· Tracking press cases
· Be available on call for breaking news and serve as the primary point of contact for media in the absence of the Chief of Administration
- Excellent writing skills
- Excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills
- Media relations experience
- Must be creative, flexible and a team player
- Must be able to be available for reporters on evenings and weekends
- Knowledge of the legal and/or criminal system preferred, but not required
- A valid driver’s license, as travel within the Greater Boston area and across Middlesex County may be required

Starting Salary: Commensurate with experience
Vacation: 2 weeks per year, with the ability to carry over up to two weeks each calendar year
Sick leave: 15 days per year, accrued monthly
Personal days: 3 per year (depending upon the quarter of the year of one's employment)
