We are the world's trusted infrastructure consulting firm, partnering with clients to solve the world’s most complex challenges and build legacies for future generations.

There has never been a better time to be at AECOM. With accelerating infrastructure investment worldwide, our services are in great demand. We invite you to bring your bold ideas and big dreams and become part of a global team of over 50,000 planners, designers, engineers, scientists, digital innovators, program and construction managers and other professionals delivering projects that create a positive and tangible impact around the world.

We're one global team driven by our common purpose to deliver a better world. Join us.

AECOM is actively seeking an experienced Senior NEPA Compliance Project Manager to join our Environmental Planning Group primarily working on National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and permitting projects.

This hybrid position will ideally be located in our Anchorage, Alaska office, however, AECOM will consider candidates in other geographic locations.

In this role you’ll have the opportunity to join our interdisciplinary team to manage projects related to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance, state-level equivalent reviews, and environmental permitting. Your ability to manage NEPA projects; oversee staff; perform quality assurance and control; communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders; and write technical assessments related to NEPA compliance is critical.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical expertise in the social, environmental, or physical sciences and experience in contributing to complex environmental studies for natural resource development projects (e.g., mining, oil and gas), land use planning and environmental management. This position requires excellent communication, technical, and writing skills; attention to detail; and the ability to work independently and as a part of an interdisciplinary team. Opportunities for growth include development of client relationships, marketing and business development, and leading interdisciplinary teams on a multitude of projects.

Other responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Work with clients to develop solutions to achieve their goals.
  • Project management, including coordination with clients, technical staff, and subconsultants.
  • Serve as a Project Manager on large environmental permitting and compliance projects, particularly high-profile mining, Department of Defense infrastructure and planning projects and similar projects for other federal clients as needed.
  • Oversee the work of early career staff and mentor others.
  • Contribute to marketing and business development, preparation of proposals, and formulating proposal cost estimates.
  • Attend and/or present at project and public meetings and assist in preparing meeting materials and compiling meeting results, including PowerPoint presentations, and other materials.
  • Participate in professional associations/events relevant to the industry.
  • Interpret and apply applicable government codes, ordinances, and regulations.
  • Manage and prepare both federal and state environmental documents as well as managing permitting activities for these projects.
