Senior Originator, Lower Middle Market Private Credit

A leading private credit investment firm is seeking a Senior Originator to join its growing Lower Middle Market (LMM) direct lending platform in New York,NY. This individual will play a key role in sourcing, developing, and executing investment opportunities while expanding relationships across the lower middle market ecosystem.

This is an opportunity to join an established credit platform with significant capital to deploy and a flexible mandate focused on supporting founder-owned businesses, family-owned companies, independent sponsors, and lower middle market private equity sponsors.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and originate new lending opportunities across the lower middle market.
• Develop and maintain relationships with:
• Independent sponsors
• Emerging and lower middle market private equity firms
• Family offices
• Founders and business owners
• Operating executives and management teams
• Investment bankers and other deal intermediaries
• Build and execute a targeted business development strategy to expand the firm's market presence.
• Evaluate potential investment opportunities and collaborate with underwriting and investment teams throughout the deal process.
• Represent the firm at industry conferences, networking events, and sponsor meetings.
• Maintain an active pipeline of opportunities and provide regular market intelligence to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• 6-8+ years of experience in direct lending, private credit, mezzanine finance, leveraged finance, business development, or sponsor coverage.
• Demonstrated track record sourcing investment opportunities within the lower middle market.
• Strong relationships with independent sponsors, smaller funded sponsors, family offices, founders, and intermediary networks.
• Experience working directly with management teams, operating executives, and business owners is highly preferred.
• Excellent networking, relationship management, and communication skills.
• Strong understanding of private credit structures and lower middle market transactions.
