Description

SAIC is seeking an Electrical Engineer Associate to join our team in Crane, IN, in support of engineering, testing, and sustainment of radar systems employed by the U.S. Navy. The selected candidate will contribute to important projects supporting the development, maintenance, and documentation of systems critical to national defense.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Software Development and Maintenance:
    • Modify and develop software to meet new requirements.
    • Develop instrumentation device drivers for new test equipment.
    • Update software to correct identified deficiencies and adapt to changing environments.
    • Develop software for one-time engineering tests and new testing techniques.
    • Assist in the development and support of test sets and tools written in MATLAB.
  2. Lab-Based Testing and Hardware/Software Troubleshooting:
    • Perform maintenance and development of automated test set software in a laboratory setting.
    • Support daily production tasks, including data transfers and test data extraction.
    • Work with RF test and measurement equipment, such as RF sources, power meters, oscilloscopes, counters, spectrum analyzers, switches, pulse generators, arbitrary function generators, and network analyzers.
    • Learn and apply knowledge of testing microwave tubes.
  3. System Administration and Configuration Management:
    • Manage paperwork and documentation associated with test set configuration management.
    • Perform limited system administration tasks such as computer updates, patches, and backup creation/storage for Microsoft Windows networks and standalone workstations.
  4. Collaboration and Support:
    • Provide occasional technical support and travel to vendor installations, as required.
    • Work alongside team members to develop and maintain test set capabilities for radar systems.


Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:
  • Degree: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or another related field.
  • Experience: 0-2 years of relevant engineering experience or a combination of education and demonstrated technical expertise.
  • Skills:
    • Basic knowledge of software and hardware troubleshooting techniques.
    • Familiarity with programming languages such as MATLAB and willingness to learn HP/Transera BASIC.
    • Basic understanding of RF test and measurement equipment (e.g., RF sources, power meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers).
    • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work under close supervision in a laboratory setting.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows networks and workplace software applications.
    • Ability to obtain/maintain Secret Clearance. Interim Secret required to start.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience with MATLAB or HP/Transera BASIC.
  • Familiarity with modern radar systems or RF technologies is helpful but not required.
