Job Description

Epic-certified or Epic-credentialed trainer 

Location - New Haven, CT

 

The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience as an Epic Principal Trainer or Epic End User Trainer, with strong expertise in Patient Access, Cheers, Cadence, Grand Central, Welcome, Registration, Scheduling, or related Epic applications. The consultant must be able to quickly integrate into an established healthcare training environment and provide immediate value in preparing clinical and operational teams for successful Epic utilization.


Key Objectives

  • Accelerate Epic user adoption and operational readiness.
  • Support instructor-led and virtual Epic training programs.
  • Deliver workflow-based training tailored to operational teams.
  • Enhance end-user proficiency and confidence in Epic applications.
  • Support go-live preparation and post-training follow-up activities.
  • Collaborate with Yale Medicine stakeholders to improve learning outcomes and training effectiveness.

Primary Responsibilities

Epic Training Delivery

  • Deliver Epic end-user training sessions in classroom, virtual, and hybrid environments.
  • Facilitate role-based and workflow-based Epic training programs.
  • Conduct hands-on system demonstrations and practice exercises.
  • Reinforce Epic best practices and operational workflows.
  • Support learner competency assessments.

Principal Trainer Support

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of Epic training curricula.
  • Review and update training materials, job aids, quick reference guides, and learning plans.
  • Align educational content with current Epic workflows and organizational standards.
  • Participate in training strategy discussions and readiness planning.

Workflow-Based Education

  • Analyze operational workflows and identify training opportunities.
  • Translate Epic functionality into business and clinical use cases.
  • Support scheduling, registration, patient engagement, and access management workflows.
  • Provide coaching to end users on workflow optimization.

End-User Readiness & Adoption

  • Serve as a trusted advisor for Epic users and operational teams.
  • Support adoption initiatives and change management activities.
  • Facilitate user engagement sessions and feedback workshops.
  • Identify knowledge gaps and recommend remediation plans.
  • Track user readiness and training completion metrics.

Go-Live & Hypercare Support

  • Participate in go-live readiness activities.
  • Provide at-the-elbow support to Epic users.
  • Assist with issue triage and user guidance.
  • Support stabilization efforts during hypercare periods.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with:
    • Yale Medicine Training & Development Team
    • Operational Leaders
    • Clinical Teams
    • Project Managers
    • Epic Application Teams
  • Participate in project meetings and status reviews.
  • Communicate training progress, risks, and recommendations.

xperience

  • 3+ years of Epic training experience.
  • Experience supporting healthcare provider organizations.
  • Experience delivering instructor-led training.
  • Experience providing workflow-based Epic education.
  • Experience supporting Epic implementations, upgrades, or optimization initiatives.
  • Experience with adult learning methodologies.

Epic Credentials (Required)

One or more of the following:

  • Epic Principal Trainer Certification
  • Epic Credentialed Trainer Status
  • Epic End User Trainer Experience

Preferred application experience in:

  • Epic Patient Access

  • Experience with training program development and curriculum design.
