Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Platform Engineer with strong expertise in Python engineering, AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines to support the development and management of secure, scalable cloud platforms. The role involves building and maintaining reusable CI/CD templates, managing package repositories and artifact promotion processes, supporting reproducible development environments across Windows, Linux, and WSL, and automating platform operations through APIs. The successful candidate will have experience with SSO/RBAC integration, logging, auditing, vulnerability scanning, SBOMs, policy-as-code, and secure software supply chain practices. An active SC Clearance is required, along with a proven track record of delivering enterprise-grade cloud solutions for large-scale government or commercial organisations.

Contract Duration: 6 months
Start/End Date: 12-Oct-26 to 12-Apr-27Rate: PAYE- £400/day (Basic) and UMB - £550/day (Inside IR35)

Technical skills

• Strong Python engineering, including
  pip, PyPI, Conda, dependency resolution and internal package publishing.
• CI/CD pipeline development and reusable repository/pipeline templates.
• Artefact repositories, curated package sources and promotion flows.
• Reproducible environments, containers and Windows/WSL/Linux workflows.
• SSO/RBAC integration, logging, audit capture and API-based automation.
• Familiarity with vulnerability scanning, SBOMs, provenance and policy-as-code.

Non-technical skills

• Collaborative delivery with pilot and stream-aligned teams.
• Clear technical documentation and knowledge transfer.
• User-focused problem-solving and responsiveness to feedback.
• Comfortable working iteratively where requirements emerge through discovery.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain secure Python/package-management golden paths.
• Implement curated repositories and controlled publishing workflows.
• Integrate the platform with CI/CD, identity, security and runtime services.
• Develop automated onboarding, reusable templates and self-service capabilities.
• Troubleshoot developer blockers and reduce dependence on workarounds.
• Improve reliability, build success, performance and supportability.
