Key Responsibilities

The Junior Backend Engineer will:

• Support the development and maintenance of backend features on a Drupal-based platform.
• Develop and modify Drupal modules and backend functionality under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Use PHP and Symfony components to implement and maintain application features.
• Assist with REST API development and integration with other systems.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues.
• Work with relational databases, SQL queries, and backend data structures.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment activities.
• Support Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical issues as responsibilities transition to the technical team.
• Follow established coding, security, testing, and documentation standards.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to understand the existing codebase and system architecture.
• Document technical changes and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Interested candidates should have:

• Basic to intermediate knowledge of PHP.
• Some practical experience or exposure to Drupal, preferably Drupal 9 or 10.
• A basic understanding of Symfony and Symfony-based application development.
• Knowledge of REST APIs and backend development principles.
• Basic knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
• Familiarity with Git and version control.
• An understanding of software testing and debugging.
• The ability to read, understand, and work with an existing codebase.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• A willingness to learn, collaborate, and contribute to an existing production platform.
