Software Team LeadHillend, Scotland (Hybrid)Salary: £51,000 - £61,000

Were supporting a leading defence and cyber security organisation delivering innovative technology solutions that help protect nations and organisations against evolving threats.

They are looking for an experienced Software Team Lead to manage and support a team of software developers working on critical defence and security programmes.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on technical leader who enjoys combining software engineering with team leadership, helping deliver high-quality solutions while mentoring and developing engineers.

What youll be doing:
  • Leading and supporting a team of software developers delivering complex solutions
  • Managing the full software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, development, and testing
  • Designing technical solutions and supporting engineering decisions
  • Conducting peer reviews and defining test strategies to ensure software quality
  • Planning, prioritising, and reviewing team workloads
  • Providing progress updates to project stakeholders
  • Working closely with customers and cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver outcomes
  • Supporting the development and growth of engineers through coaching and mentoring
What theyre looking for:
  • Experience leading or managing software engineering teams
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • Hands-on development experience with:
    • C# or C++
    • Windows desktop applications
  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented design and development
  • Experience with software design approaches and tools such as:
    • UML
    • SysML
    • XML
  • Experience coaching engineers and supporting professional development
  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent technical experience
