Job description

An opportunity to take a strategic lead in shaping enterprise data modelling, governance, and architecture across high-impact initiatives within a major Federal Government environment.
You could collaborate closely with architects, data engineers, and executive stakeholders to build a modern, high-performance data analytics platform delivering critical outcomes nationwide.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Drive the architecture, design, and governance of enterprise semantic models, certified datasets, key metrics, and enterprise KPIs.

  • Partner with business leaders and technical architects to convert intricate business logic into robust logical, physical, dimensional, and semantic data models.

  • Design scalable, enterprise-grade star schema solutions, encompassing fact and dimension tables, relationships, hierarchies, and appropriate data granularity.

  • Engineer presentation layer tables, views, and complex SQL transformations within cloud data platforms to maximise performance and analytics consumption.

  • Build reusable semantic layers within enterprise BI tools, eliminating metric duplication and enabling accurate self-service reporting across the organisation.

  • Align with data engineering teams to define source data requirements, resolve integration challenges, and tune database query performance and filter propagation.

Skills & Experience Required
  • Deep proficiency with Snowflake, advanced SQL, enterprise data modelling tools (e.g., Erwin), dimensional modelling/star schema techniques, and modern BI tools such as Power BI.

  • Exposure to AWS, Databricks, MS Fabric, or Redshift is highly regarded.

  • Demonstrated senior/lead track record delivering enterprise data models within complex, large-scale data environments, with robust knowledge of metadata management, data governance frameworks, and normalisation standards.

  • Exceptional stakeholder facilitation and communication skills, with a proven ability to lead technical workshops and translate sophisticated architectural concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience supporting large-scale transformation programs in Australian Government or regulated environments is strongly advantageous.

Eligibility & Clearance Requirements
  • Location avaliable: CBR, NSW, QLD or VIC
  • Security Clearance: Candidates must hold a current NV1 security clearance to apply.
