Senior System Security Analyst Remote Blu Omega is seeking a Senior System Security Analyst to support a federal cybersecurity program focused on safeguarding critical health systems and data. This role operates within a fully remote environment and is responsible for maintaining and enhancing enterprise cybersecurity defenses across the NIH Cybersecurity Operations Center. The position requires experience supporting federal cybersecurity standards and technical operations in a mission-driven environment. Program Overview Supporting NIH cybersecurity operations to protect federal health data and systems through 24/7 enterprise security monitoring and threat response.
Key Details Location: Remote (badging locations in Bethesda, MD; Raleigh, NC; Hamilton, MT) Clearance: NIH Public Trust, ability to obtain and maintain suitability Responsibilities • Continuously monitor and analyze system security to identify vulnerabilities, threats, and potential breaches. • Conduct risk assessments and system audits to uncover security gaps. • Recommend and implement mitigation strategies to enhance system security. • Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to embed security best practices into architecture and operations. • Keep up-to-date with emerging cyber threats and adjust security measures proactively. • Support 24/7 cybersecurity operations to ensure ongoing detection, response, and protection in compliance with federal standards.
Required Qualifications • 3+ years of cybersecurity experience, focusing on system security analysis. • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, threat intelligence, and vulnerability management. • Hands-on experience with monitoring tools like Splunk and endpoint security solutions such as Microsoft Defender. • Familiarity with incident response and intrusion detection techniques. • Understanding of federal cybersecurity frameworks including FISMA and NIST. • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. • Ability to operate independently in a remote setting and collaborate with diverse teams. • Ability to support 2nd or 3rd shift (4 PM - 12 AM EST or 12 AM - 8 AM EST). • Must be able to obtain and maintain NIH Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications • Certifications such as CISSP, CISA, or Security+ are highly advantageous. • Experience supporting government agency IT operations within health or federal environments. • Knowledge of security architecture, system virtualization, and multi-cloud environments. • Familiarity with Tenable, DbProtect, and advanced threat detection methods.
Compensation Salary Range: $63,000.00 - $83,798.56 Final compensation based on skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance.
