Job Description: 

  Isoft is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support and enhance critical internal business applications that power real-time operational and market-related processes within a leading energy and market operations environment.

  This role is heavily focused on backend engineering, with approximately 75% of responsibilities centered on backend application development and 25% focused on frontend development. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who enjoys owning complex systems, solving technical challenges, and collaborating across technical and business teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.

  This position offers an opportunity to work on business-critical systems while helping maintain application stability and support modernization initiatives across the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise applications supporting real-time operational and business-critical processes.

• Build and support Java-based backend services and applications.

• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs that enable reliable and high-performing application functionality.

• Create and enhance user-facing features using Angular and modern web development practices.

• Design, optimize, and maintain Oracle and SQL database solutions, including query tuning and performance optimization.

• Deploy and support containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.

• Participate in GitHub-based development workflows and CI/CD deployment pipelines.

• Monitor application health, troubleshoot production issues, and implement sustainable long-term solutions.

• Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to gather requirements and implement enhancements.

• Provide support and stability for key business applications while internal team members focus on strategic initiatives and platform modernization efforts.

• Contribute to architecture discussions, technical decision-making, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of software development experience in enterprise environments.

• Strong hands-on experience with Java application development.

• Experience working with Oracle and SQL databases.

• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and backend services.

• Experience with Angular or similar modern front-end frameworks.

• Experience working with Docker and Kubernetes in containerized environments.

• Familiarity with GitHub-based source control and CI/CD practices.

• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and performance optimization skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supporting real-time operational, transactional, or high-availability systems.

• Exposure to cloud platforms and modern DevOps practices.

• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and software quality.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot, Claude, or similar generative AI platforms.

• Experience driving process improvements and promoting engineering best practices.

• Demonstrated ability to balance technical excellence with business priorities.
