Job Description

IT Specialist – Systems & Infrastructure
Location: Albuquerque, NM
Contract: 12 months+
Schedule: Monday–Friday, up to 40 hours/week
Work Arrangement: Primarily on-site; occasional travel to Albuquerque Area facilities may be required
 
Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will have strong experience supporting Windows/server environments, virtualization, Active Directory, networking, backup/recovery, cybersecurity, and end users. Experience in healthcare or government IT environments is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows servers, systems, applications, and infrastructure.
  • Support virtual machines, virtualized environments, and applicable cloud platforms.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, operating system, and network connectivity issues.
  • Provide Tier 1/Tier 2 help desk and end-user support, including ticket management through ServiceNow.
  • Administer Active Directory user accounts and access.
  • Monitor system availability, performance, security, and scheduled processes.
  • Perform system patching, upgrades, configuration, and performance tuning.
  • Perform and verify backup, recovery, and disaster recovery operations.
  • Troubleshoot and support network infrastructure and connectivity.
  • Diagnose and recover from hardware and software failures.
  • Maintain technical documentation, procedures, and configuration standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and user training when needed.
  • Work independently while following IHS security requirements, policies, procedures, and technical standards.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or equivalent field.
  • Demonstrated professional experience in IT systems administration and technical support.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Windows operating systems and servers.
  • Experience with virtualization/VM environments.
  • Experience with Active Directory.
  • Knowledge of networking and network troubleshooting.
  • Experience with backup and recovery processes.
  • Ability to provide effective end-user/help desk support.
  • Ability to work independently and document technical work accurately.
Preferred Experience:
  • IHS, federal government, or healthcare IT experience.
  • Experience supporting RPMS and/or Electronic Health Record (EHR) environments.
  • ServiceNow experience.
  • Experience with cloud technologies.
  • Experience with enterprise infrastructure and data-center environments.
  • Experience with cybersecurity/security monitoring.
Ideal Candidate:
The successful candidate is a hands-on IT professional who can troubleshoot problems, administer systems, support users, maintain infrastructure, and respond to operational issues with minimal supervision. Strong communication, customer service, documentation, and analytical skills are essential.
