This is an exciting, permanent full-time position for an experienced and proactive Senior Project Engineer.

About the Role

Your primary role will be to support project managers and multidisciplinary engineering teams in delivering feasibility studies, tendering, design review, construction support, commissioning and project close-out services on behalf of project directors / Project Managers. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities and interfaces across process, mechanical, piping, civil, structural, electrical, control and instrumentation, environmental and other relevant disciplines.
• Review EPC contractor, technology supplier and vendor submissions for compliance with the Employer's Requirements, contract documents, applicable codes and standards, design basis, performance requirements and approved project interfaces.
• Coordinate technical reviews, consolidate discipline comments, track their closure and ensure that unresolved matters, deviations, exclusions, assumptions and design changes are clearly recorded and escalated.
• Support preparation and review of feasibility studies, concept designs, technical specifications, Employer's Requirements, tender documents, bid evaluation reports, clarification registers, scope matrices and technical recommendations.
• Participate in bidder clarification meetings, technical negotiations, design review meetings, HAZOP and other project risk review workshops, as applicable to the assignment.
• Monitor engineering deliverables, procurement interfaces, construction readiness and key project milestones against the approved programme, and identify technical risks, constraints and potential schedule impacts at an early stage.
• Assist the Project Manager in defining scope, deliverables, responsibilities, battery limits, interfaces and acceptance criteria, and in managing scope changes in accordance with the agreed project procedures.
• Coordinate with the client, EPC contractor, technology providers, suppliers and internal Ramboll teams to facilitate timely technical decisions while maintaining Ramboll's independent Owner's Engineer position.
• Participate in factory inspections, site visits, construction reviews, commissioning activities and performance tests, and prepare clear reports identifying observations, non-conformities, open items and recommended follow-up actions.
• Support evaluation of technical deviations, concessions and contractor proposals, including assessment of their implications for safety, operability, maintainability, performance, programme, interfaces and whole-life value.
• Promote compliance with applicable health, safety, environmental and quality requirements throughout design review and project delivery activities.
• Prepare concise technical correspondence, meeting minutes, progress inputs, decision papers and reports suitable for issue to clients, contractors and other project stakeholders.

The right person for this job will

• Hold a bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Control & Instrumentation, Chemical, Civil or another engineering discipline relevant to thermal power, EfW/WtE, carbon capture or major process infrastructure projects.
• Have approximately 10–12 years of experience in engineering consultancy, Owner's Engineer, EPC, technology provider or plant owner organisations, with responsibility for project engineering or multidisciplinary coordination.
• Demonstrate sound understanding of the full project lifecycle, including feasibility, concept and detailed design, tendering, procurement, construction, commissioning, performance testing and handover.
• Have experience reviewing contractor and vendor documentation against contract requirements, technical specifications, design criteria and applicable codes and standards.
• Understand engineering interfaces and battery limits and be able to identify gaps, overlaps, inconsistencies and risks across multidisciplinary scopes.
• Be familiar with project controls, document management, technical query resolution, change management, risk management and quality assurance processes.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or an equivalent recognised project management qualification will be considered an advantage
• Possess strong analytical judgement and the ability to distinguish material technical or contractual issues from minor comments, and to provide clear, proportionate and defensible recommendations.
• Communicate clearly in written and spoken English and be confident engaging with clients, contractors, suppliers and geographically distributed teams.
• Be organised, diligent and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver agreed outputs to programme and quality requirements.
• Be able to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative, inclusive and multidisciplinary team environment.
• Be willing to travel to client offices, supplier facilities and project sites when required by the assignment.
• Experience in EfW/WtE, thermal power generation, carbon capture, flue-gas treatment, utilities or comparable process plants will be an advantage.
• Professional registration or progress toward chartered status with a recognised engineering institution will be an advantage.
