What you'll do Viasat is looking for an experienced full stack software engineer who enjoys developing performant web applications using modern web technology.

We are developing an API and Multi-network satellite orchestration platform that provides real-time situational awareness and command and control capabilities to a global fleet of high value aircraft, and we need your help to drive the product forward leveraging the latest advances in cloud and analytics technology. The day-to-day

  • Collaborate closely with fellow engineers in an Agile, self-organized Scrum team to deliver high-quality solutions and continuously improve how we work together.
  • Partner with teammates to create thoughtful, evolving designs that strike the right balance between flexibility and technical rigor.
  • Rapidly develop and refine customer-focused features, embracing feedback and adapting quickly to changing priorities and customer needs.
  • Serve as a frontend or backend subject matter expert, mentoring and supporting junior engineers while maintaining an understanding of the broader technology ecosystem.
  • Work closely with UX designers to build intuitive, efficient, and visually appealing user experiences that delight customers.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve our technology, processes, and team effectiveness, helping drive innovation and long-term success. What you'll need
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience developing web applications, with proficiency in one or more of the following technologies: React, Spring Boot, or Go.
  • Strong foundation in computer science concepts, including software architecture, algorithms, and data structures.
  • Experience building and deploying solutions in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or other leading cloud platforms.
  • Familiarity with microservices architectures and distributed systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% as needed.
  • Must have an active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret Clearance. What will help you on the job
  • Experience working in Agile development environments and contributing to collaborative, iterative software delivery.
  • Familiarity with modern React frameworks and tooling, such as Next.js or TanStack.
  • Experience with database technologies, particularly Redis, Elasticsearch, TimescaleDB, or similar data platforms.
  • Interest in or experience with UX/UI design and a passion for creating intuitive user experiences.
  • Experience using CI/CD tools and automation frameworks such as GitHub Actions, Ansible, ArgoCD, or related technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Leadership experience or a desire to grow into leadership opportunities, whether through mentoring, serving as a Scrum Master, or leading project initiatives.

Salary range $117,000.00 - $185,000.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $145,000.00- $218,000.00/ annually At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional cash or stock incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
