Onsite About the Company<br />Our client is a well-established and growing engineering business specialising in the design and manufacture of bespoke systems, special purpose machinery, and production solutions for a range of industrial sectors.

Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, they are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team. The Role<br />As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of bespoke machinery from concept through to manufacture and commissioning.

Working within a multidisciplinary engineering environment, you will play a key role in delivering innovative and cost-effective solutions that meet customer requirements.<br />This position offers the opportunity to work on varied and technically challenging projects within a collaborative and supportive team.

Key Responsibilities<br />Design bespoke machinery, systems, and mechanical assemblies using 3D CAD software.<br />Produce detailed engineering drawings, assembly drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).<br />Develop innovative mechanical solutions based on customer specifications and project requirements.<br />Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, and design reviews.<br />Collaborate with electrical, controls, manufacturing, and project teams to ensure successful project delivery.<br />Support machine build, testing, installation, and commissioning activities.<br />Liaise with customers and suppliers regarding technical requirements and project progress.<br />Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering standards, health and safety requirements, and industry regulations.<br />Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices.<br />Candidate Requirements Essential<br />HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.<br />Previous experience in a Mechanical Design Engineer position within systems, special purpose machinery, material handling, or manufacturing environments.<br />Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or similar.<br />Experience producing detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings.<br />Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials, fabrication, and machining processes.<br />Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.<br />Ability to manage multiple projects and work to deadlines.<br />Strong communication and team-working abilities.<br />Desirable<br />Experience designing automated production equipment or conveyor systems.<br />Knowledge of pneumatics, servo systems, and motion control technologies.<br />Understanding of machinery safety standards and CE/UKCA compliance.<br />Experience working within project-driven engineering environments.<br />Familiarity with PDM and ERP systems.
