About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Specialist – Data Engineering to join a growing data platform team. This role will be instrumental in designing, building, and optimizing modern data solutions using open-source technologies. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience across the entire data lifecycle, from data ingestion and transformation to analytics-ready data modeling and cloud deployment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement data pipelines that move data from OLTP systems to OLAP/analytical environments.
  • Develop and maintain Change Data Capture (CDC) solutions for real-time and near-real-time data movement.
  • Build, optimize, and manage data transformation and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Design and maintain data models for both transactional and analytical workloads.
  • Work with Apache Iceberg to create scalable and efficient analytical datasets.
  • Develop streaming and event-driven data solutions using Kafka, Flink, and related technologies.
  • Deploy, monitor, and support data platform components within AWS environments.
  • Collaborate with engineering and business teams to define scalable data architecture solutions.
  • Troubleshoot, optimize, and improve platform performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Participate in technical design discussions and contribute to platform strategy.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong experience in Data Engineering and modern data platform development.
  • Hands-on production experience moving data from OLTP systems to OLAP environments.
  • Practical experience with Change Data Capture (CDC) architectures and tools.
  • Strong understanding of Apache Iceberg and analytical data modeling concepts.
  • Experience with ETL/ELT development and data transformation processes.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Apache Kafka
    • Apache Flink
    • Debezium
  • Experience deploying and managing solutions in AWS.
  • Strong understanding of both transactional and analytical data modeling.
  • Ability to work across infrastructure, platform, and data layers.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Databricks.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL.
  • Background in Financial Services, FinTech, or related industries.
  • Exposure to Python and/or PySpark.
Ideal Candidate

  • Has experience building and supporting production-grade data platforms.

Work Arrangement
  • Charlotte, NC
  • Hybrid schedule with 3 days onsite per week required.
