Job Description

VAT Assistant Manager / VAT Manager  | London  A leading international energy business is looking to appoint a Tax Assistant Manager / Tax Manager to join its established Finance & Tax function in London.
This is a broad indirect tax role, offering exposure to UK and European tax compliance, accounting and advisory matters within a complex, multinational organisation.
The successful candidate will work closely with Finance, Tax, external advisors and the wider business, providing support across a range of indirect tax matters.
Key responsibilities:
• Preparation and submission of UK and European VAT returns
• Responsibility for indirect tax compliance and reporting
• Review and validation of VAT data prior to submission
• Reconciliation of VAT and indirect tax balance sheet accounts
• Advising the business on day-to-day VAT and indirect tax queries
• Supporting internal and external audits
• Liaising with tax authorities and external tax advisors
• Working closely with the wider Finance and Tax teams
• Identifying and resolving indirect tax issues
• Supporting wider tax projects and process improvements

About you:
• Qualified accountant or tax professional (ACA, ACCA, CTA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Strong UK VAT / indirect tax experience
• Good understanding of European VAT and indirect tax regulations
• Experience preparing, reviewing or validating VAT returns
• Experience within energy, commodities, trading or another complex multinational environment would be advantageous
