Our Engineering Team

One of our key goals is to foster a robust engineering culture that supports the growth of LCP and the success of our product development teams. We support this through practical technical leadership: championing proportionate engineering best practices, providing hands-on input where it will have most impact, and trusted architectural advice where teams need to explore options, resolve uncertainty and define a clear path forward.

As Lead Development Engineer, you will work in an as a hands-on technical partner to delivery teams, across codebases of varying maturity levels and technical constraints. Depending on the need, you may help a team assess options and shape an architecture before they take delivery forward themselves or work alongside them to design and implement complex or high-impact elements. You will also contribute to the development of central products, services and components.

AI is changing how we build software, and you will contribute to the evolution of our engineering practices. You will bring curiosity, sound judgement and a pragmatic mindset: learning unfamiliar technologies quickly and applying the right level of rigour for the context. This means improving existing solutions incrementally where appropriate, while establishing strong foundations for new work, favouring simple, sustainable solutions over unnecessary complexity or short-term shortcuts.

What will you be doing?

• Collaborate with product delivery teams, embedding where appropriate, to develop technical architecture recommendations and implementation support
• Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise or consolidate solutions into reusable components and services
• Help drive the evolution of SDLC practices for AI-enabled development, to reduce friction while maintaining quality and sustainable delivery
• Champion proportionate engineering practices, including automated testing, CI/CD, coding standards, observability, technical debt management and maintainable code
• Contribute hands-on to the design and development of shared packages and services
• Work with Platform and Infrastructure teams to ensure solutions are secure, compliant, operable and supported in production
• Champion the responsible, effective use of AI-enabled tools and practices responsibly to realise productivity gains while maintaining quality and security controls
• Research and prototype emerging technologies when there is a clear delivery or strategic benefit
• Mentor developers, share knowledge across teams and act as an approachable technical authority
• Communicate clearly with Product Owners and other stakeholders, translating business needs into practical technical options and trade-offs
• Build strong relationships with product teams and proactively represent their needs as part of quarterly planning

What skills and experience are we looking for?

• Strong and demonstrable experience and knowledge of

o C# / .NET

o Azure PaaS/SaaS offerings (inc. Azure Functions, App Services, Service Bus, Table/Queue/Blob Storage, Event Grid, Application Insights, Azure Batch)

o ASP.NET WebAPI (RESTful)

o Relational databases (Azure SQL)

o Non-relational databases (CosmosDB, Table Storage)

o Azure DevOps

• Knowledge of building Generative AI / LLM powered solutions would be advantageous (OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, AWS Bedrock, Google Vertex)
• Knowledge of effective use of agentic coding tools and techniques
• Ability to clearly articulate software engineering and technology concepts
• Ability to architect well-reasoned solutions with pragmatism
• Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and business stakeholders to interpret needs
• Comfortable rapidly upskilling in unfamiliar technologies
• Proactive, logical problem-solver who leads by example
• Knowledge of IaC (Terraform)
• Strong planning and organisational skills, including the ability to manage several work streams simultaneously, while balancing business priorities and quality
• Excellent communication skills with a capacity to present, discuss and explain issues coherently and logically, both in writing and orally
• Pragmatic – able to balance pros and cons to find the right solution for the right situation, with an iterative development mindset
• Approachable and focused on building solid relationships across multiple teams and areas of the business
