What You'll Be Doing

The Chief Cardiac Technologist leads the cardiac diagnostics team with clinical and technical expertise. Key responsibilities include:

• Overseeing the delivery of high quality cardiac diagnostic services, including advanced assessments, surveillance, and reporting of implantable cardiac devices (pacemakers, ICDs), Holter monitoring, exercise stress testing, and stress echocardiography.
• Providing support to the sonography service by performing transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms and ultrasound guided pericardiocentesis.
• Offering specialist clinical advice, mentorship and professional support across the Mid North Coast Local Health District, and supporting the implementation and orientation of future in house Cardiac Sonographer roles.
• Managing the entire pathway of cardiac diagnostic testing, ensuring accurate interpretation and timely reporting.

The role requires detailed knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology and pathology, with an emphasis on identifying and escalating variations in anatomy and pathological processes.

About You

You possess advanced training, strong technical capability and confident clinical judgement. Requirements include:

• Postgraduate qualification in Sonography or equivalent recognised competency.
• Full accreditation as a cardiac sonographer with the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry.
• Experience performing Transthoracic, Transesophageal and Stress/Dobutamine/Contrast Echocardiography with high precision.
• Proficiency in Holter monitor processing, exercise stress testing, cardiac catheter lab hemodynamic monitoring and surveillance of implantable pacemakers, defibrillators and loop recorders.
• Strong digital capability, navigating cardiac reporting programmes and electronic medical record systems.
• Leadership skills, including developing service protocols, refining procedures and mentoring technologists and technicians.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and organisational skills to manage workloads and ensure efficient service delivery.
