Android Developer - Walmart

Location: Sunnyvale, CA (Hybrid/Onsite)

Job Summary

Android Developer to design, develop, and maintain high-performance native Android applications that power seamless shopping experiences for millions of customers. The ideal candidate is passionate about mobile technologies, writes clean and scalable code, and collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, customer-centric solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain native Android applications using Kotlin and Java.
  • Build scalable, reusable, and maintainable applications following MVVM, Clean Architecture, and Android best practices.
  • Develop modern user interfaces using Jetpack Compose and Android UI components.
  • Integrate RESTful APIs, GraphQL services, and third-party SDKs.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, UX Designers, Backend Engineers, and QA teams to deliver high-quality features.
  • Optimize application performance, memory usage, startup time, and battery efficiency.
  • Write unit tests, UI tests, and participate in code reviews to maintain high code quality.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement performance improvements.
  • Implement secure coding practices and ensure compliance with enterprise security standards.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, and release activities.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and application deployment processes.

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Android application development.
  • Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Java.
  • Experience with Jetpack Compose, Android SDK, AndroidX, and Material Design.
  • Strong understanding of MVVM, Clean Architecture, Repository Pattern, and Dependency Injection.
  • Experience with Coroutines, Flow, and asynchronous programming.
  • Hands-on experience integrating REST APIs, Retrofit, OkHttp, and JSON parsing.
  • Knowledge of Room Database, SQLite, and offline data synchronization.
  • Experience with Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging).
  • Strong understanding of Git and version control.
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, and Espresso.
  • Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with GraphQL.
  • Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP).
  • Knowledge of React Native or Flutter.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Bitrise.
  • Experience working in large-scale enterprise environments supporting millions of users.
  • Exposure to microservices architecture and event-driven systems.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and mobile security best practices.
