Sensing, imaging, signals, navigation and communications Cambridge area; £40k - £80k DoE plus benefits This company and role focus on applied innovation in the defence sector: advanced technologies applicable to national security. The role will include broad product design and development, analysis, computational modelling and prototyping. Areas of interest include sensing, imaging, signals, navigation and communications. This may be through optics, radar, sonar, acoustics and/or electromagnetics, thermal methods, fluidics. Analogue wave effects of interest include propagation, penetration, interference and systemic interactions. Algorithm design and applications of AI and machine learning are of interest. You will have:
- A strong academic background, including a degree from a top university, a relevant master’s or ideally a PhD, top A-level grades.
- Light to extensive commercial-grade product development experience, whether literally commercial or through pragmatic R&D.
- A speciality in several of the areas outlined above.
- British nationality and eligibility for UK security clearance.
- Prior expertise planning and proposing innovation, engaging with stakeholders, influencing decision makers, responding to stakeholder or client enquiries, and presenting your work.
- Strong client-facing skills to match your research expertise.
- Any prior experience with R&D budgets, resource planning and accountability may be useful.
